Exploring Community-Driven Solutions that Promote Health Equity
The George Washington University's Institute for Racial, Ethnic, and Socioeconomic Equity (Equity Institute) is hosting a convening on March 18, from 12–3:30 PM, focused on addressing systemic barriers to health and well-being through community-driven solutions and cross-sector collaboration. The convening will feature three sessions:
Fireside Chat: Health equity experts will discuss how structural factors impact health outcomes and explore the potential of systems thinking as a tool for transformative change.
Applying Systems Thinking for Systems Change: Participants will learn to apply systems thinking in a real world context by identifying systemic barriers that perpetuate place-based social and health inequities. This hands-on session will foster collaboration in co-developing real-world solutions. Key insights will be captured through live graphic recording and discussion.
Translating Research to Action: Closing the nation's ever growing health and wealth gaps requires translation of research into action. In this lively discussion with elected leaders, foundations, researchers and community leaders we will share concrete strategies for building systems, policies and practice aimed at driving meaningful and measurable change.
With a focus on interactive discussions, advocacy tools, and community-driven solutions, this convening provides a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing long-standing systems driven inequities.
